Norway\u2019s recidivism rate (from 70% to 20%) as well as prisons are now safer. This was done by decentralising prisons allowing for family relationships, making them more community based and focused on rehabilitation both during and after \u00a0incarcerated.\u00a0 Inger Marie Fridhov criminologist states, &#8220;The key aim is to make the release a predictable event. The incarcerated individual is informed about the date and time of release, as well as what awaits them in terms of housing, employment, finances, education, and health. A team of 25 specially trained release coordinators operates within the prisons, collaborating with guards and other stakeholders in the release process.
