Overview:
Vernd (Protection) a halfway house for prisoners but during and after incarceration. The services provided by Vernd are essential and highly specialised. There is good cooperation with other institutions in welfare services such as Landspítala, health care, child protection committees, Children’s Protection Agency, SÁÁ, Tryggingastofnun, Labor and Employment Agency, Hlaðgerðarkot, Prisons’ Mental Health Team and Prison Affairs Agency. In addition, Verndar’s relations with rural associations, committees and their welfare departments are in most cases very good, but the rural associations are now 69.
